Sushil K. Gupta (1946.8.7-2025.8.28)


 佛罗里达国际大学商学院信息系统与商业分析系教授,东北财经大学公共管理学院星海特聘教授,POMS 的创始人之一,POMS中国暑期学校发起人。

 Sushil·Gupta教授在其领域内是一位备受认可的研究人员。他的研究兴趣包括生产调度、数学建模、计算机应用以及教育管理。他曾在包括Management Science, M&SOM, POM, IIE Transactions, European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Production Research, Journal of Operational Research Society, Omega, Computers and Industrial Engineering, and Socio-Economic Planning Sciences等顶级专业期刊上发表过文章。他是《POMS——生产与运营管理软件》一书的合著者,该书由阿林与巴肯出版社为运营管理课程出版。

          Gupta教授于 1987 年荣获“佛罗里达国际大学基金会卓越研究/学术成就”奖。他还于 1984-1985 年荣获佛罗里达国际大学商学院的“杰出学术研究奖”。他的其他奖项包括:获得富布赖特奖学金,在美国麻省理工学院斯隆管理学院进行研究工作;获得英联邦奖学金,用于在加拿大多伦多大学攻读研究生课程;以及因其在工商管理毕业班中排名第一而获得 V.K.R.V. 罗哈金奖。他曾组织了多次国内和国际会议;在国内外会议上主持会议并发表论文。他曾为Management Science, IIE Transactions, Decision Sciences, European Journal of Operational Research, OMEGA以及美国国家科学基金会等刊物审阅论文/项目申请。

          Gupta教授曾在佛罗里达国际大学担任过副教务长、学术事务主任以及工程学院副院长。在担任工程学院企业与全球项目主任的职务期间,目前负责开发、推广和管理工程学院的企业和全球项目,这些项目目前正被提供或与多个国家(包括中国、哥伦比亚、多米尼加共和国、印度、牙买加、墨西哥、秘鲁)的赞助商进行谈判。土耳其、委内瑞拉和南斯拉夫。这些项目包括工程管理硕士、技术管理硕士、电信与网络硕士以及建筑管理硕士。

 Gupta教授是生产与运营管理学会(POMS)的创始成员之一,该学会是一个国际专业组织,他在其创立、发展和壮大过程中发挥了关键作用。1994 年,他担任该学会的副主席——会员活动负责人,1996 年担任该学会主席。自 1997 年起,他一直担任 POMS 的执行董事。他还担任 POMS 期刊的顾问委员会成员。

 Gupta教授长期以来对POMS在中国管理学界的推广和应用、促进中美学术交流合作给予了大力支持。他积极推动国内高校管理学科的创新发展,多次参与学术研讨并担任荣誉教职,为师生开设前沿讲座,分享国际经验。2019Gupta教授发起设立POMS中国暑期学校和POMS北京分会。他还协助国内高校与海外知名高校建立合作关系,拓展师生国际视野,并为科研项目提供专业指导。他的贡献显著提升了国内高校在商科教育领域的国际影响力。

Dr. Sushil Gupta is a well-recognized researcher in his field. His research interests include production scheduling, mathematical modeling, computer applications, and educational administration. He has published in top-ranking professional journals including Management Science, M&SOM, POM, IIE Transactions, European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Production Research, Journal of Operational Research Society, Omega, Computers and Industrial Engineering, and Socio-Economic Planning Sciences. He is a co-author of "POMS - Production and Operations Management Software," a software package published by Allyn & Bacon for an operations management course.

Dr. Gupta was awarded the "FIU Foundation Excellence in Research/Scholarship” award in 1987. He was also awarded “Distinguished Scholarly Research Award” of the College of Business Administration, FIU, in 1984-85. His other awards include Fulbright Fellowship to do research work at the Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, U.S.; Commonwealth Scholarship for his graduate work at the University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada; and the V.K.R.V. Rao Gold Medal for his first place ranking in his MBA graduating class. He has organized several national and international conferences; has chaired sessions and presented papers in national and international conferences. He has refereed papers/grant proposals for Management Science, IIE Transactions, Decision Sciences, European Journal of Operational Research, OMEGA, and the National Science Foundation among others.

Dr. Gupta has served FIU as vice provost, Academic Affairs, and associate dean, College of Engineering. Dr. Gupta, in his capacity as the director of Corporate and Global Programs in the College of Engineering, is currently responsible for developing, promoting, and managing the College of Engineering’s corporate and global programs which are currently being offered or negotiated with sponsors in several countries that include China, Colombia, Dominican Republic, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru, Turkey, Venezuela, and Yugoslavia. The programs include MS in Engineering Management, MS in Technology Management, MS in Telecommunications and Networking, and MS in Construction Management.

Dr. Gupta is one of the founding members of the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS), an international professional organization, and has played a key role in its initiation, development and growth. He was the vice president- Member Activities in 1994 and the president of POMS in 1996. He is the executive director of POMS since 1997. He also serves on the advisory board of the POMS journal.

Dr. Gupta has consistently demonstrated strong commitment to promoting and advancing the application of POMS within the Chinese management academic community, as well as fostering academic collaboration between China and the United States. He has played an active role in driving the innovative development of management disciplines in domestic universities by participating in numerous academic forums, delivering lectures on cutting-edge topics, and holding honorary teaching positions. In 2019, he took the initiative to establish both the POMS China Summer School and the POMS Beijing Chapter, further strengthening academic infrastructure. Additionally, he has supported domestic universities in forming partnerships with prestigious international institutions, thereby expanding the global perspectives of faculty and students and offering expert guidance on research initiatives. His contributions have significantly elevated the international standing of Chinese universities in the field of business education.
