Since the entry to 21st Century, the Internet and big data technology has brought profound changes to the traditional production and operation management. In order to effectively cope with the new challenges of technological informatization and economic globalization, the Chinese production operation and management academic circle urgently needs to combine the most cutting-edge international production and operation management theories with the production and operation practical experience under the unique management situation in China, to achieve the common prosperity of the Asia-Pacific economy through openness, innovation, inclusiveness and reciprocity. Based on this vision, the Chinese Society of Optimization, Overall Planning and Economic Mathematics (SCOPE) jointly initiated the establishment of “Operations Management Summer School”. The two sides will work hand in hand to cultivate Chinese outstanding scholars and business leaders who will lead the global operation and management frontier in the future. Operations Management Summer School has been called “Whampoa military academy”, which cultivates outstanding talents in China’s future operation and management academic circle.

Operations Management Summer School is organized by the School of Management Science and Engineering of Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, and the Higher Education Administration Branch of SCOPE. The 2019 Operations Management Summer School with the topic of “Production and Operation Management Change in Big-data Era” will be held at Dongbei University of Finance and Economics on June 17-22, 2019. The summer school aims at introducing the basic theories and latest developments of international production and operation for students and teachers who focus on behavioral operations, data science, stochastic and optimization, disaster management, disruptive technologies, E-business, global operations strategy, healthcare operations management, industry studies and public policy, management of technology, manufacturing operations, new product development, R&D and project management, accounting, economics, finance, information systems, marketing, retail operations, revenue management, service operations management, supply chain management, sustainable operations .

Chinese Society of Optimization, Overall Planning and Economic Mathematics (SCOPE) is initiated by the famous mathematician Loo-Keng Hua. It is an important professional organization of Chinese scientific and technological workers who engaged in the optimization, overall planning, economic mathematics, and management science, etc. The society’s website is http://www.scope.org.cn:83/. With the nature of legality, public benefits, and technicality, SCOPE is a crucial force to promote the development of management science and technology in China. Since it was founded in 1981, the society has actively promoted and popularized of the application of “double method”. What’s more, it always adheres to the direction of servicing the national economic construction, focuses on the country’s major decision-making projects and macro decision-making problems, effectively promotes the development of management science in China, and makes important contributions to the development of Chinese economy. Now, SCOPE has become one of the most important academic society which connects with Chinese scholars and experts in the field of management science.

SCOPE relys on the advantages of domestic and foreign management academic organizations to join hands to hold Operations Management Summer School in Dalian, China for a long time. Operations Management Summer School takes the mission of cultivating outstanding scholars and business leaders who will lead the forefront of global operation management in the future, and actively promotes the development of production and operation management in China and even the Asia-Pacific region.

1. Purposes

SCOPE makes full use of their international and Chinese discipline advantages, teacher teams and extensive international academic resources to co-sponsor the 2019 Operations management Chinese Summer School focusing on production and operation management. The purposes of Summer School are: to make more students and young scholars have the opportunity to understand and acquire latest academic development trends; to broaden international academic horizons and enhance innovation ability of students and young scholars in China.

4. Trainees Accommodation

The Summer School adheres to the commonweal character for service the society. All of students are exempt from the registration fee. Students are responsible for transportation, meals and accommodation after the school provides relevant accommodation information. Students can print or copy the teaching materials and materials by themselves. The office can organize the copying uniformly and charge the cost fee. Students volunteer to participate in get-together and other collective activities of the summer school.

5. Enrollment Scale

The 2009 Operations management Summer School will only recruit 200 formal students, who will be selected according to their priority (see Table 2 the Application Form). Especially, we welcome the second-year or above postgraduate students, doctoral students and young teachers in management, economics, finance and other disciplines from Chinese and overseas universities and research institutions. Trainees should have a good level of English and the appropriate foundation of operational research. Among them, the students who have published their papers in international mainstream management journals and participated in the evaluation of excellent papers will be given priority to be recruited, and the Summer School will take care of teachers and students of colleges and universities come from Central and western China and Northeast China.

6. Summer School Excellent Papers

To participate in the selection of excellent papers, the authors need to register for the summer school and be accepted, and then send the paper to the school office email scopehe@163.com before June 10. After the parallel session’s report and the expert comment on the spot, the authors of the excellent paper will be awarded the certificate at the closing ceremony.

7. National University Talent Recruitment Activities in the field of Operation and Management

In the afternoon of June 28, the Summer School will hold the national university talent recruitment activity in the field of operation and management. The recruitment unit will register for free (the Application Form is shown in Table 3). In addition, the contact person who is interested in participating in the talent recruitment activities should pay all his/her own expenses, and send the Application Form to the office email scopehe@163.com before May 30, so as to arrange the promotion activities.

9. Registration Time and Collective Activity

The website of 2019 Operations management Summer School has been opened, and the deadline for registration is May 30, 2019. The organizers will announce the admission list and issue an official acceptance letter on June 1 on the follow websites.

The class committee of the 2019 summer school will be set up after the enrollment, and various academic exchanges and cultural activities will be organized during the break time and weekends. Among them, the summer school will organize all students to have a party in the famous utopia town outside Dalian on June 22.
